At least nine people have been injured in a shooting incident in Kansas City, Missouri. Occurring just ahead of the World Cup, the incident has raised fresh concerns regarding the security of international football teams.

The incident took place early Saturday morning, local time, in the Troost Avenue area. Kansas City Police stated that they responded swiftly to the scene, and at least three of the injured were rushed to the hospital. However, no suspects have been detained so far.

Although the location is relatively far from where the Argentina national football team is based in Kansas City, the incident has sparked widespread discussion regarding the city's overall security situation. The Argentine squad is currently training at the Sporting KC Training Center.

On the other hand, the matter has become increasingly sensitive as the shooting occurred closer to Swope Soccer Village, the designated base camp for the England national team.

Although the England squad has not yet arrived in Kansas City—as they are scheduled to play their next warm-up match against Costa Rica in Orlando, Florida—the proximity has heightened anxieties.

According to Kansas City Police, the gunfire erupted at approximately 4:00 AM local time. An investigation is underway, and authorities have yet to confirm a motive for the attack.

This incident has cast a spotlight on the security measures in place for teams participating in the upcoming tournament in the United States, where gun violence remains a persistent issue. According to various data sources, over a hundred such violent incidents were recorded last year alone.

The Football Association (FA) has not yet released an official statement regarding the matter.
