Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said, competitive bus plying along with reckless road crossing by the pedestrians have to be stopped. Foot over bridge is nearby but that is not in use. We have constructed 36 foot over bridges in Dhaka-Chattogram route. But of those 30 are not in use.
He said these at a program organized at Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College premises at Kurmitola in the capital on Sunday.
Obaidul Quader said, there is foot over bridge nearby but people do not use that. They cross the road through divider gaps by crawling. School and college going students cross roads while talking over mobile phones. Moving vehicles push them. Incident of brutal killing takes place. I would request, please you will be cautious while crossing roads.
He said, a revolutionary change will be visible in the communication sector of the country in the coming two to three years. We have to keep patience. Wait for the good days ahead.
To the students Quader said, Sheikh Hasina is not the Prime Minister for next election, she is the Prime Minister for next generation. I express thanks to you. You have proved that there is a guardian for all in Bangladesh, under whose direction you have returned home from movement, returned to classes. You have placed 9 demands. She has pledged. Accepted all the demands. We the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges assure you that all the demands will be fulfilled exactly.
He said, not only the underpass of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin College. Our leader also directed us to construct three more underpasses within a very short span of time. One will be from Dhaka Airport Rail Station to Dhaka Airport. We have initiated the process. Another will be from Parliament Members’ building to Parliament building.
Obaidul Quader said, at present construction work is going on for 20 flyovers. There will be five flyovers on the road from Gazipur to Jasim Uddin under Bus Rapid Transit.
He also said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate 23 bridges on Dhaka-Tangail highway before the Eid. Entire Tongi Bazar will be elevated express way. Construction work is going on for elevated express way from Abdullahpur to EPZ.
