Jahangir Alam Bulbul, who served as the Secretary of the Health Services Division during the July-August uprising, has been arrested.
He was detained early Tuesday (February 18) in the capital by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Confirming the arrest, DB Chief Rezaul Karim Mallik stated that multiple cases are pending against Jahangir Alam. He will be presented in court in connection with one of these cases.
After the fall of the Awami government, Jahangir was transferred from the Ministry of Health Services to the Planning Commission as a member on August 20. Following serious allegations against him, he was forced into mandatory retirement.
Jahangir Alam was appointed Secretary of the Health Services Division on October 9, 2023.
Notably, he was once the Assistant Private Secretary-1 to Sheikh Hasina. His ancestral home is in Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur.
