Ershad to be opposition leader in parliament

The Jatiya Party (JP) has decided to remain as the main opposition party in the eleventh parliament.

In a statement issued on Friday, JP Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad made the disclosure to the media.

The JP chief said no lawmakers of Jatiya Party will be included in the cabinet of the new government.

“As the chairman of the Jatiya Party, I (Ershad) will be the leader of the main opposition and party's co-chairman Golam Mohammad Quader will play role as deputy leader of opposition in the parliament. No Jatiya Party MPs will be included in the cabinet,” reads the statement.

In the statement, Ershad requested the Speaker of the parliament to take necessary action in this regard.
