Ershad to take oath Sunday
Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad will take oath on Sunday (January 6) as the Member of eleventh national parliament. On the day at 11 am he will take oath at the oath taking hall of Jatiya Sangsad, Secretary General of Jatiya Party Mashiur Rahman Ranga said this on Saturday.
Earlier the Jatiya Party Members of Parliament took oath on Thursday. Ershad was not present in that program for illness. After taking oath the party lawmakers informed about their decision of remaining in the government.
But on the following day a statement signed by Hussain Muhammad Ershad said that Jatiya Party is going to be the main opposition party. Party Chairman Ershad will be the leader of opposition. No member of the party will be the minister.
On Saturday Ershad informed about the decision of making Mashiur Rahman Ranga as the opposition Chief Whip.
Meanwhile, Ershad in two letters congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury on Saturday.
In the letter to the Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury he said that Jatiya Party has emerged as the main opposition party in the parliament bagging 22 seats.
Ershad also said that in this condition according to the party decision he (MP from Rangpur-3) will discharge his duty as the opposition leader and party Co-chairman GM Kader (MP from Lalmonirhat-3) will act as the deputy leader of opposition.
