Country will prosper with initiatives of expatriate engineers: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, I welcome the initiatives of meritorious engineers who live abroad and consider building the country more prosperous. The initiatives of the expatriates will make our path more dynamic. It will help us to implement our plan to make the country as a developed one by 2041.

She said these as the chief guest in the inaugural program of two day long convention of engineers residing abroad at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel in the capital on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister said, the challenges which we have taken to build Bangladesh as economically prosperous those will be utilized through technology and research. The dream of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was to establish the country as a prosperous one which will remain its head high. But the killers of Bangabandhu did not allow implementing the plan for their own interest. By killing Bangabandhu they not only made us orphan but also made future of the country back stage.

She said, when I stepped in the country with grief of losing near and dear ones then I realized that I have to fulfill the dream of my father. With this view I am serving the country. I have taken planned steps for development of the country.

She also said, you are the sons of this soil. You are discharging your role with merit and labor in different organizations of the world. Today you want to serve Bangladesh with your merit and labor. I would say that you should invest in your own place and village. You can invest in the places where we have built 100 industrial zones, if you wish. You can play helping role for employment for the jobless and to build a developed Bangladesh through your investment.

Presided over by Planning Minister Abdul Mannan in the program ERD Acting Secretary Monwar Ahmed delivered introductory speeh. National Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, convention Convener Azadul Haque and others delivered speeches there.
