Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, the Bangladeshi nationals who received death threat from the terrorist, special security measures will be taken for them. To face the risk of threats law enforcement agencies and intelligence teams are working.
He said these in response to a question of journalists at a program organized by Bangladesh Textile University at Tejgaon in the capital on Sunday.
In the program the Home Minister said, there was local and international conspiracies behind militancy in Bangladesh and it is still prevailing. They were curbed but root out was not possible. They emerge sometimes through threats and shouts. But people of Bangladesh are never afraid of their threats.
Mentionable that, threats of killing three eminent citizens of the country were mentioned in the March volume of IS supported Bengali magazine ‘Lone Wolf’. The three citizens who received threats are- former adviser of caretaker government Sultana Kamal, chairman of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir and historian professor Muntasir Mamun.
Following the threats Sultana Kamal herself filed a General Diary (GD) with Dhanmondi police station on Saturday. On Sunday Shahriar Kabir and professor Muntasir Mamun filed GDs with the same police station seeking security.
Taking the GDs for granted the matter is being investigated. Dhanmondi police patrol teams were directed to guard their homes.
Officer in Charge of Dhanmondi police station Abdul Latif said, an Office Assistant of Muntasir Mamun filed the GD in the noon following the incident of threat by terrorist group. Police were deployed in their homes to beef up security. Patrol police were asked to pay special attention surrounding areas of their homes.
