Earthquake jolts parts of Bangladesh

The earthquake was felt at around 8:22 am on Wednesday in Dhaka and across the country. The epicenter of the earthquake was at Shonitpur in Assam state of India which is 397 kilometers away from Dhaka. The magnitude of the earthquake at the epicenter was 6.2.

US Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the earthquake was 20 kilometers far from Assam’s capital Guahati. It affected Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Myanmar and China. No news of immediate casualty was reported yet.

The several seconds long earthquake was felt even by some aftershocks. At that time being panicked people came out from their homes, shops and other establishments and stood on the roads.
