The government has compulsorily retired six officials, including five secretaries, under Section 45 of the Government Service Act. Besides the five secretaries, the other official holds a Grade-1 rank.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications regarding their forced retirement on Thursday (June 19) night.
The officials are: Kazi Enamul Hassan, Director General (Secretary) of the Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board; Sukesh Kumar Sarkar, Director General (Secretary) of the National Academy for Planning and Development; Muhammad Ibrahim, Chairman (Secretary) of the Land Appeal Board; Dr. Md. Shahid Ullah, Rector (Secretary) of the National Academy for Development Administration; and Mohammad Salah Uddin, OSD (Officer on Special Duty) Secretary.
Additionally, Dr. Lipika Bhadra, Chairman (Grade-1) of the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation, has also been sent on forced retirement.
The notifications state that the compulsorily retired officials will receive their retirement benefits as per regulations.
It's worth noting that under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, the government can compulsorily retire any official without a show-cause notice once they have completed 25 years of service.
