Noakhali District Detective Police (DB) have arrested Tipu Sultan (35), the alleged mastermind behind the piracy of actor Shakib Khan's much-discussed film 'Tandob', from Noakhali.
Mohammad Ibrahim, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Ops) for Noakhali, confirmed the matter on Tuesday night (June 17). Earlier that day, he was arrested around 5:45 PM from the area adjacent to Mohammadia Hotel in Maijdi, the district town.
The arrested Tipu Sultan is the son of Khalilur Rahman from Kalikapur village, Ward No. 4, Jirtoli Union, Begumganj Upazila, Noakhali.
Police reported that Tipu illegally spread HD copies of the entire 'Tandob' movie through various channels. Subsequently, the film's producer, Shahriar Karim Bhuiyan alias Shahriar Shakil, filed a case against Tipu as the primary accused under the Copyright Act at Banani Police Station in Dhaka. Based on confidential information, the DB police conducted a raid and apprehended him.
Mohammad Ibrahim, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Ops) for Noakhali, stated, "Tipu has confessed to his involvement in the piracy. The accused will be sent to Dhaka. Banani Police Station will take further legal action against him."
