The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has directed the publication of a notice in two national newspapers, summoning former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was removed from power during the coup in July-August last year, to appear and explain allegations of contempt of court.
The tribunal ordered on Sunday (May 25) that within seven days, a notice be published in one Bengali and one English daily regarding this matter.
According to the investigation team, Sheikh Hasina has been accused of contempt of court for obstructing judicial proceedings and issuing threats through statements made from India.
The tribunal has instructed her to explain why contempt charges related to interference with the judicial process should not be filed against her.
Investigators revealed that "227 cases have been registered, and permission was granted to kill 227 individuals," citing the authenticity of audio recordings attributed to Sheikh Hasina from India.
Previously, the prosecution team disclosed the existence of these audio recordings, prompting the tribunal to order a forensic examination of the evidence.
