Heat alert expanded for three days

Due to  the intensity of heatwave in different parts of the country, heat alert issued by the Meteorological Department has been extended for another 72 hours.

The matter was informed by meteorologist Hafizur Ranman in  a circular on Sunday (April 28). He said that the ongoing heatwave may continue for the next three days from 28 April to 01 May. Excessive water vapor may increase discomfort.

An earlier alerts issued on April 19 by BMD for the first time due to severe heatwave. Then it is enhanced in several steps.

In Bangladesh, a heat warning is usually issued when the temperature exceeds 36°C. And if the temperature rises above 42°C, then it is called extreme heatwave.

What is heat alert?

A heatwave is an extreme hot weather and the warning issued about this when the heatwave increases to an extreme level. There is also a fear of disasters. Besides, it can cause death if  it goes beyond human tolerance.
