A quarter of 2 lakh hectares of cropland damaged in the cyclone

According to the Department of Agriculture Extension, 1 lakh 71 thousand 109 hectares of cropland has been damaged by Cyclone Remal and heavy rains.

The Ministry of Agriculture informed the journalists about the preliminary damage occured by the cyclone.

However, the ministry said that it will take 7 to 8 days to get a complete picture of the damage.

According to the preliminary report of the Directorate, 48 districts have been affected by Remal. 13 districts of Barishal, Khulna and Chattogram region have been affected the most.

Due to the impact of the cyclone, there has been extensive damage in the agricultural sector on Sunday and Monday. At present, the amount of standing crop land in the field is about 14 lakh 30 thousand 65 hectares and the amount of affected crop land is about 1 lakh 71 thousand 109 hectares.
