State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that Facebook is being opened after the authorities apologized.
He said this at the BTRC building in Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday (July 31) morning.
The State Minister for Information Technology said Facebook has promised to be more responsible in the coming days. The fact-checking organization that is working for Facebook in Bangladesh is influenced by anti-liberation forces, so Facebook is discriminating.
Palak said, 'The social media platforms that were temporarily restricted for some time by Wednesday afternoon. Considering the overall situation, I am not leaving any obstacle to manage the activities of Facebook, Tiktok, YouTube. We have given instructions, hopefully all will be launched by today.'
The meeting started virtually at BTRC on Wednesday morning. State MinisterInformation Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, BTRC Chairman Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed and senior officials of the organization were present. However, it is not yet known who attended the meeting as a representative of Meta.
Earlier on July 18, internet services were suspended in the country around 9:00 pm as violence spread across the country centering the quota reform movement. Broadband internet services were restored from the night of July 23.
