Sheikh Hasina, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh fled to India after resigning due to public outcry. After escaping, Sheikh Hasina alleged that there was a US conspiracy behind the overthrow of the Awami League government. However, the US State Department denied these allegations.

In response to a journalist's question at the U.S. State Department's regular press briefing on Tuesday (August 13), the Department's Principal Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel dismissed Sheikh Hasina's allegations as ridiculous.

Vedanta Patel said, 'This is ridiculous. Any idea that the United States was involved in Sheikh Hasina's resignation is completely false.'

'We've seen a lot of misleading news in recent weeks and we're incredibly committed to strengthening data integrity across the digital ecosystem, especially with our partners in South Asia,' he added.

It is to be noted that the whole country has been in turmoil due to the quota reform movement. After more than 400 people were killed in the week-long protests, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the Prime Minister's post and fled to India on August 5.
