Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA).
Secretary of National Sports Council (NSC) Aminul Islam informed this in a press release on Friday (October 25) afternoon.
It is said that General Waker-Uz-Zaman has been officially elected as the sole candidate for Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) President Election 2024.
Earlier, the army chief alone procured and submitted nomination papers for this post in the electoral process. After some formal process, the NSC declared him unopposed on the day of the announcement of the final candidate list.
It is to be noted that after the interim government took over, former army chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed resigned from the post of BOA president citing personal reasons.
