Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Jatiya Oikya Front is formed with like rinds of different trees. Awami League is not worried over Oikya Front rather it is good to see that a new alliance is formed with different types of people.
She said these at a press conference held at the Gonobhaban in the capital on Monday following her Saudi Arabia visit.
The Prime Minister said, political liberty is prevailing in the country, there is freedom of speech. The judiciary is independent. I welcome the initiative that political parties are being united. But we have to consider who are forming alliance. We have to observe their attitudes.
She said, it is a matter of notice that how people are paying attention. If they want to attain political credibility from the people then let them allow. There is no problem in this regard. Because there are people in the alliance who tease women openly. People of the country know better about their character.
About OIkya Front leaders the premier said, many of them were in Awami League. Now they have formed alliance against Awami League. There is no emergency, no martial law, they have united in democratic way. So I welcome this.
She said, democracy stands on a strong base in the country. Alliances are being formed as there is democracy. The parties can be united keeping the election ahead.
In reply to the question of newsmen what will be the size of government during election period, she said, many mega projects are being implemented by this time. If the cabinet size is small then responsibility of different portfolios will be upon a single minister. In this case we have to consider whether the projects would hamper or not. I want that the projects should be completed soon.
In reply to question about Saudi government’s attitude over Rohingya issue she said, Rohingya issue came in front while discussion with Saudi government. They have pledged of being with Bangladesh over the issue.
When asked about road accidents Sheikh Hasina said in reply, many blame the drivers. If the leaders are beaten then running in front of moving vehicles will stop? Those who staged movement are now going through the moving vehicles. Although there is a foot over bridge near. They are young, not old. We have passed the Transport act. It is a matter of machine, needs time to stop. Journalists should uphold the matter.
