Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, marked Eid-ul-Fitr with a combination of community worship and high-level diplomatic engagements.
The Opposition Leader commenced the day by offering his Eid prayers at 8 am at the Monipur Girls’ High School ground in Mirpur.
Following the service, he spent time exchanging greetings with local residents and devotees from various walks of life.
The focus then shifted to his official residence at 29 Minto Road, which served as a venue for a major diplomatic reception.
From 11 am to 12:30 pm, Dr. Rahman hosted representatives from a wide array of diplomatic missions.
Attendees included diplomats from the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, China, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Japan, and several other nations across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
High-level representatives from international organizations such as the UNDP, UNESCO, and UNICEF were also in attendance.
The guests were treated to traditional Bangladeshi cuisine, fostering an atmosphere of cultural exchange and festive camaraderie.
Later in the afternoon, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm, the Opposition Leader continued the celebrations by receiving political leaders, professionals, and members of the general public.
These series of events underscored the Opposition’s active role in both local community life and international festive diplomacy.
