US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday, marking a significant moment in the ongoing diplomatic dialogue between the two nations.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Division office within the Bangladesh Secretariat.
During the exchange, Ambassador Christensen presented the Prime Minister with a symbolic replica of the White House along with two historic photographs.
The images highlight the long-standing diplomatic history between the US and Bangladesh, featuring Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman with former US President Jimmy Carter, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia with former US President George Bush Sr.
According to the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman, the discussions focused on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including regional stability and economic partnership.
The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs, Humaiun Kobir.
The visit underscores a continued effort to strengthen bilateral ties and recognize the historical foundations of the relationship between Dhaka and Washington.
