The second session of the 13th Parliament, which will serve as the first budget session of the current term, is scheduled to begin on June 7.
According to a press release from the Parliament Secretariat issued on Thursday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin has summoned the session to commence at 3 pm.
The President convened the session by exercising the powers vested in him under Article 72(1) of the Constitution.
Parliament Secretariat sources indicated that Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury is expected to present the proposed national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year on June 11.
Given the nature of the budget proceedings, the session is anticipated to be a lengthy one.
The exact duration of the sitting will be finalized during a meeting of the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee, which will take place shortly before the House officially goes into session.
The upcoming sitting follows the conclusion of the 13th Parliament's first session on April 30.
That initial session spanned 25 working days, during which a total of 94 bills were passed.
This budget cycle marks a significant transition in fiscal governance; following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, the previous budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year was presented by Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed under the interim government.
