PM Launches Family Card Programme for Women Empowerment: Yasser

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has officially launched the family card distribution scheme as a targeted initiative to empower the women of the country.

“Giving family cards to low-income families was one of the election pledges of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman,” the state minister stated while addressing a gathering as the chief guest at a meeting in Nandail, Mymensingh, on Saturday evening. 

The meeting was arranged at the Charvelamari Government Primary School under Charbetagar Union to formally distribute the family cards among local poor families.

Yasser Khan explained that as part of the government's broader commitment to women's empowerment, the family cards were launched in this specific area to ensure that every beneficiary will receive a certain amount of money through the card every month.

“This initiative will play a positive role in achieving economic self-reliance of families. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has launched this programme to financially strengthen female-headed families,” the state minister said.

He further emphasized that no political beliefs, religion, or caste were considered during the selection and distribution process of these family cards. 

Highlighting the rollout strategy, he added that the government has first taken one ward of each union across the country for the initial phase of the scheme. In phases, these cards will be distributed to all remaining unions sequentially.

Following his address, Yasser Khan Choudhury distributed the family cards to the local beneficiaries on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. 

The event was attended by Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Md Saifur Rahman, Nandail Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fatema Jannat, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Salah Uddin Mahmud, Officer-in-Charge of Nandail Model Police Station Azharul Islam, and various local BNP leaders.
