Acting President Honors Liberation War Martyrs, Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia

Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, paid tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War on Sunday by laying a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar, followed by a visit to Zia Udyan to honor Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

Arriving at the National Memorial at 11:35 am, the Acting President was greeted by the chiefs of the three armed services along with senior government officials. 

He placed the memorial wreath at 11:40 am and observed a minute of solemn silence in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence. 

A tri-service guard of honor was presented by contingents of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force.

Following the tribute, Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmad signed the official visitors' book, where he expressed deep reverence for the Liberation War martyrs and commemorated the Proclaimer of Independence, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. 

Before departing the premises at 11:47 am, he also planted a sapling on the memorial grounds.

Later in the afternoon, at 12:46 pm, the Acting President visited Zia Udyan in Dhaka to place wreaths at the resting places of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. 

He offered 'Fateha' and 'Munajat' at the grave site, offering prayers for the eternal peace of the departed leaders.

The visits were attended by key state and military figures, including State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, Military Secretary Major General A S M Bahauddin, President's Office Public Division Secretary Khan Md Nurul Amin, Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam, as well as the General Officer Commanding of Savar Cantonment, the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner, the Deputy Commissioner, and the Superintendent of Police.
