The High Court has said that it will interfere if any negligence is found in connection with the investigation of burning Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi. The court said, we will interfere if negligence is found in the investigation process of Nusrat murder case.

On Thursday Barrister Sayedul Haque Suman brought different newspaper reports to the notice of the court's bench comprising Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razil Al Jalil.

Barrister Suman told the court, the death of Nusrat is tragic and sensitive. People throughout the country are shocked. Allegation has risen that there is association of a madrasa principal and different local political parties. So performing investigation in this case by a Sub Inspector of police will not be trustworthy. We are making appeal to deliver direction for judicial inquiry. We will hope that the murder of Nusrat is not forgotten like the murder cases of journalist couple Sagar-Runi, Tonu of Cumilla or Mitu of Chattogram.

The court said, Prime Minister herself is monitoring the incident. By this time Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is given the charge of investigation. Keep confidence. You will come to the court if observe any negligence and then we will interfere.

Nusrat breathed her last at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital after losing her fight for life for five days.

Nusrat was an Alim examination candidate of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa in Feni. Nusrat's mother Shirin Akter lodged a case on March 27 accusing the madrasa principal Siraj Ud Doula that he sexually harassed Nusrat by calling her at his office room. Relatives of Nusrat alleged that people loyal to the principal set her ablaze as she refused to withdraw the case.
