Symbols were allocated among the seven candidates who are competing in the by-election of Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituency scheduled to be held on June 24.
On Tuesday Returning Officer Mahbub Alam Shah at his office distributed the letter of symbol allocation among the candidates.
Those who got the symbols are- BNP’s Golam Md. Siraj (Sheaf of Paddy), Awami League’s T Zaman Niketa (Boat), Jatiya Party’s Nurul Islam Omor (Plough), Bangladesh Congress’s Mansur Rahman (Green coconut), Bangladesh Muslim League’s Mufti Maulana Rafiqul Islam ( Hariken-lamp), independent candidates motor workers leader Kabir Ahmed (Truck) and Md. Minhaz (Apple).
The candidates have begun their campaign after allocation of symbols. It seems that the campaign will get momentum after the Eid.
According to the declared schedule Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) will be used for voting in 141 centers of 21 wards under Bogura municipality and 11 unions in sadar upazila on June 24 from 9 am to 5 pm. The total number of voters in this constituency is 3 lakh 87 thousand 458.
