Facebook-You Tube need to be brought under rules-regulations: Minister

Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, all the media of social network including Facebook, video streaming platform of You Tube or OTT Platform need to be brought under rules and regulations.

He said this to the newsmen at the beginning of an inter-ministerial meeting at the secretariat on Sunday.

The minister said, there is a debate over the content of OTT platform. Those are going uncensored. So there needs to be rules and regulations.

Hasan Mahmud said, thousands of crore taka is going to the service provider companies for the use of social network. Money is going to Netflix, You Tube or other social network medium. We cannot avail tax from this sector in a satisfactory way.
