Immediate Justice Leads to Injustic: Chief Adviser

Monday, 10 February 2025 , 04:59 PM

Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, stated that delivering justice immediately leads to injustice.

Speaking at the inauguration of the financial assistance program for the families of martyrs and the injured from the July uprising, held at his office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Monday (February 10) at 10:30 am, Dr Yunus shared his views. During the event, he officially launched the program by distributing checks to the families of 21 martyrs and 7 injured individuals from the July movement.

He further emphasized that all murders and disappearances would be properly investigated and judged, stating that justice delivered too quickly results in injustice. "The core of justice is fairness... ensuring that injustice does not occur," he said.

Dr Yunus explained, "We fought against injustice, and it is because of that struggle and sacrifice that we are here today. If we indulge in injustice ourselves, what difference would remain between us and the ousted government?" He reassured, "We will not engage in injustice."

He also mentioned, "Criminals will be handed over to the police and the law, while those who are not criminals will be guided to the right path."

Dr Yunus expressed a commitment to building a better country as quickly as possible, stating, "We must judge those who are true criminals, and we must guide those who are not criminals onto the righteous path."

He urged the families of the martyrs and the injured to stay vigilant against violence and conflict in the country. Reflecting on their sacrifices, he said, "I always think of those whose sacrifices have given us the courage to call this country a new Bangladesh. Their sacrifices cannot be measured by any scale."

Acknowledging the injured and martyrs of the July uprising as the creators of this history, Dr Yunus said, "You are living history. I am deeply grateful to you. A nation that forgets its history cannot grow as a nation. From today, you are officially part of the government. This is institutional recognition. Beyond this, you have a responsibility to the community."

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Faruk I Azam, Adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War, Noorjahan Begum, Health Adviser, Nahid Islam, Information and Broadcasting Adviser, and Dr Md Syedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser.
