The report published by the United Nations Fact-Finding Mission will serve as a historic record of the crimes committed by the Awami League government, said Advocate Tajul Islam, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday (February 13) regarding various aspects of the UN report and the secret detention facility Ainaghar, he emphasized that the findings align with the tribunal's own investigations.
Tajul Islam stated that the report provides crucial evidence for prosecuting genocide and crimes against humanity committed by Sheikh Hasina and members of her government. It will be used as key documentary proof in tribunal proceedings.
He further asserted that, in accordance with the law and UN recommendations, officials and personnel from various agencies who have been preliminarily implicated in crimes against humanity should be temporarily suspended from their positions.
