Dhaka has sent the required documents to Delhi to bring back ousted Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina under a prisoner exchange agreement.

In a briefing on Thursday (February 13), Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam confirmed the development.

He stated that Bangladesh has sent all the necessary paperwork to Delhi for Sheikh Hasina's return, and is now awaiting a response from India. The diplomatic letter includes all required documents.

Rafiqul Alam mentioned that Bangladesh will await both political and diplomatic responses regarding the Hasina issue. He also noted that high-level government discussions will determine whether international protocols will be followed for the return of other leaders currently in India.

Additionally, he hinted that the UN Fact-Finding Mission's report on the July-August massacre could increase pressure on India to return Sheikh Hasina. The government will decide whether to involve friendly countries in this matter.

He also expressed gratitude to the UN Human Rights Commission for its report on the July uprising, on behalf of the Foreign Ministry.
