The 8-year-old child, who was raped while visiting her sister's home in Magura, remains in critical condition. Since Saturday (March 8), she has been on life support in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

On Monday (March 10) morning, her relatives and a doctor from the medical board overseeing her treatment confirmed that her condition remains unchanged.

"The doctors informed us that her condition has not improved. She is still on life support," said the child's cousin.

A member of the medical board added, "She has not been taken off life support even once. Her condition is still critical, and she is fighting for her life."

Late Sunday night (March 9), rumours spread on Facebook claiming that the child’s health had improved and that she was no longer on life support. However, hospital officials confirmed that these claims were false.

The tragic incident took place on Thursday (March 6) in Nijnanduali village, on the outskirts of Magura town, when the child was visiting her sister's house. She was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital in critical condition, but as her condition worsened, she was transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. With no signs of improvement, she was later moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where she was admitted to the PICU.

As her condition deteriorated further, she was placed on life support on Friday night (March 7). She is now receiving specialized care at CMH, where an eight-member medical board, led by the hospital's chief surgeon, is overseeing her treatment. The team includes experts in surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, plastic surgery, pediatric neurology, anaesthesia, pediatric cardiology, pediatric surgery, urology, and thoracic surgery.

On Saturday (March 8), the child's mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Magura Sadar Police Station. The accused include the victim's sister's husband, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law—all of whom have been arrested.

In a late-night court hearing on Sunday (March 9), the main accused, the victim's sister's father-in-law, was placed on a 7-day remand. The sister's husband, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law were each placed on a 5-day remand.

Magura's Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Matin issued the order.
