UN Secretary-General Visits Rohingya Students in Ukhiya

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived at the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, as part of his visit to Bangladesh. He landed in Cox's Bazar on Friday (March 14) in the afternoon, accompanied by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on the same flight.

According to Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Faiz Ahmed, the UN Secretary-General is scheduled to participate in various programs throughout the day.

Their chartered Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight touched down at Cox's Bazar Airport at 12:48 pm, where they were received by Disaster Management Ministry Adviser Farooq E Azam.

Following his arrival, the UN Secretary-General completed formalities at the airport before departing for the Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhiya. He reached the camp at around 2:10 pm and engaged in several planned activities.

His itinerary includes visits to a Rohingya learning centre, a cultural centre, and a jute-based product manufacturing facility. Later in the day, he is expected to join an Iftar gathering with nearly 100,000 Rohingya refugees.

Meanwhile, Chief Adviser Professor Yunus inaugurated a project at Cox's Bazar Airport and visited the Khurushkul Climate Refugee Center. He will later accompany the UN Secretary-General to the Iftar event with the Rohingya community.

According to BSS, both the Chief Adviser and the UN Secretary-General will return to Dhaka together in the evening after completing their engagements.
