International footwear manufacturer Bata has stated that the recent incidents of vandalism at its outlets in several parts of the country are a result of "baseless and false information."

Bata released a statement on its verified Facebook page on Monday night (April 7th) providing this information.

The statement read, "We have noticed that some misleading information has been circulating regarding Bata. It is being said that the company is Israeli-owned or politically involved in the Israel-Palestine conflict. However, Bata is a privately-owned company that originated in the Czech Republic and has no connection to any political conflict."

The company condemned all forms of violence, saying, "Unfortunately, as a result of this misconception, some of our outlets in Bangladesh have recently been subjected to widespread vandalism. We strongly condemn all forms of violence."

It is worth noting that Bata has been operating in Bangladesh since 1962. The company stated that it has always conducted its business by providing quality products and respecting all communities.
