To eliminate discrimination against women, the Women's Reform Commission, led by Shirin Parvin Haq, has proposed reforms in 15 areas. The Chief Advisor, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has directed the relevant ministries and departments to swiftly implement those recommendations that are immediately feasible.
He issued this directive on Saturday (April 19th) after receiving the report of the Women's Reform Commission at the state guest house, Jamuna.
The Chief Advisor said, "Whatever recommendations are quickly implementable, let it be done through us. Let us set an example for other countries in the world through this work. The women of the world are looking towards this. They will review it and be inspired. Women in other countries are also serious about this."
He added, "This is not just a women's issue; it's a universal issue. This report will be printed and distributed. It will be printed in the form of a textbook; it shouldn't just be kept as a document in the office, it must be made accessible to the people."
Dr. Yunus also stated that the proposed recommendations of the Women's Reform Commission would be taken to political parties through the National Consensus Commission.
At this time, the head of the Women's Reform Commission, Shirin Parvin Haq, said, "We wanted to do something in memory of those who lost their lives in July that would be beneficial for people and beneficial for society."
Informing that the recommendations have been divided into three parts, she said, "Some reforms can be implemented by this government itself, and some can be done by the next elected government." The commission has proposed reforms in 15 areas. The hopes and aspirations of the women's movement have been highlighted separately there.
