The interim government has announced a 10-day holiday for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
On Tuesday (May 6), the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, shared the news at a press conference.
He said the government had previously announced that the Eid-ul-Azha holidays would be from June 5 to June 10. Now, June 11 and 12 have also been declared holidays. Additionally, June 13 and 14 fall on the weekend. Altogether, there will be a 10-day holiday for this Eid.
Shafiqul Alam added that although June 11 and 12 are declared as holidays, government employees will have to work on Saturday, May 17 and May 24, in compensation.
He also noted that banks and private institutions will declare their holidays as they see fit.
Depending on moon sighting, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on either June 6 or 7.
Notably, this year during Eid-ul-Fitr, there was a continuous 9-day holiday from March 28 to April 5.
