However, his son, Manzurul Majid Mahmud Sadi, also confirmed the death in a Facebook post this morning.

Nurul Majid, who was also a former member of parliament from the Narsingdi-4 constituency, was sent to jail by Narsingdi court in September last year in a case filed over the killing of a Sramik Dal leader, Jahangir Alam, during the movement in the Madhabdi municipality area on August 4.

Jahangir, vice-president of the ward-4 unit of Madhabdi municipality Sramik Dal, was shot during protests and later died at a hospital.

Jahangir's cousin Amir Hossain filed a case with Madhabdi Police Station on August 9 against 127 people, including the former industries minister.

Later, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him in the capital's Gulshan area.
