The Advisory Council has given final approval to an ordinance declaring Gonobhaban, the former official residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina—who was overthrown in the July 2024 uprising—as the 'July Revolution Memorial Museum' (July Gonoobbhyutthan Smriti Jadughar).

The final approval for the ordinance was granted at a meeting of the Advisory Council held on Thursday (October 30) at the Chief Adviser’s office in Tejgaon, Dhaka. The meeting was presided over by the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

The information was announced by Law Adviser Professor Asif Nazrul at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy on Bailey Road in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.

"The residence that was used by the former fascist Prime Minister, who is currently facing trial for genocide, has been declared as the July Museum," said Asif Nazrul.

Professor Nazrul further elaborated, "This will be a separate museum. It will not be a branch or sub-branch of the National Museum. This ordinance was created to develop it as a completely independent institution, considering its significance and public appeal."

In accordance with this ordinance, the various 'Aynaghors' (Mirror Houses or secret detention centers) located in different places can also be expanded as branch museums of the July Museum.
