The Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, stated that no one can halt the democratic progress of the country through intimidation, acts of terrorism, or bloodshed.

The Chief Adviser made this statement in an address to the nation on Tuesday (December 16) on the occasion of Great Victory Day.

"I stand before you today with a profoundly pained heart," the Chief Adviser said. "On this day of joy, I convey with deep sorrow that the recent attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson for the Inqilab Mancha and a frontline fighter of the July Uprising, is not merely an assault on an individual—it is an attack on the very existence of Bangladesh and on our democratic journey."

He noted that Sharif Osman Hadi is currently receiving treatment in a critical condition. "The government has taken all necessary measures to ensure his treatment and security. He has already been sent to Singapore for advanced medical care. I urge you all to pray from the bottom of your hearts to the Almighty Allah for him," he said.

The Chief Adviser emphasized that the government is treating the incident with the utmost seriousness. "Those involved in the incident have been preliminarily identified. I want to assure the nation that those involved in this conspiracy, no matter where they are, will not be spared."

Professor Yunus stated clearly, "I want to say this unequivocally: the defeated fascist terrorists' vile attempts will be completely foiled. No one can stop the democratic progress of this country through intimidation, acts of terrorism, or bloodshed."

He further urged, "I appeal to you to maintain restraint. Do not heed propaganda or rumors. We must stand united against the fascist terrorists who seek to create instability. We will not fall into their trap. The defeated fascist forces will never return to the sacred soil of this country."
