Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, the Information Advisor to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has been denied entry into New Delhi.
According to the latest reports received in Dhaka, Dr. Zahed had arrived at the Delhi airport to attend an event. However, airport authorities refused to grant him immigration clearance to enter the city.
He traveled to Delhi on Sunday to participate in a high-level summit of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
Diplomatic sources revealed that the Prime Minister's advisor faced visa-related complications. He was traveling on a regular passport, although he was expected to have been issued a diplomatic passport by this time.
Sources in Delhi stated that the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to India, M Riaz Hamidullah, was already waiting at the airport to receive him.
Upon learning that the advisor had been denied entry, the High Commissioner contacted high-ranking officials within the Indian government. However, he failed to receive the desired response.
As a result, Dr. Zahed was ultimately forced to board a return flight to Dhaka.
