Must Win Public Trust at Any Cost: Prime Minister

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has directed party leaders that public trust must be earned at any cost.

He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon, July 25, during an organizational meeting with party leaders from Nilphamari, Kurigram, Gaibandha, and Lalmonirhat districts of the Rangpur division, as well as the Rangpur district and metropolitan units, held at the BNP Chairman's political office in Gulshan, Dhaka.

The Prime Minister has been holding a series of meetings with grassroots leaders ahead of the local government elections.

Instructing leaders to secure public trust at all costs, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that the upcoming local government elections will be free and fair, leaving no room for any bias.

Additionally, the BNP Chairman urged leaders to learn from past mistakes in the national elections and prepare for the future. He also directed BNP leaders to unite locally and select single consensus candidates.

The BNP Chairman and Prime Minister has been holding regular organizational meetings to further organize and strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Almost every weekend, he holds organizational sessions at his Gulshan office on holidays.

Alongside providing necessary directives for the swift organizational restructuring of the party, the BNP chief reminded leaders of their accountability to the people of the country in running the government.

Responsible leaders noted that ahead of the party's national council, the Chairman is assessing the organizational status directly from grassroots leaders.

Consultations are also aimed at organizing the party ahead of local elections. Appointments of political leaders in various government roles prioritize sacrifices made for the country and the party, while youth are being valued to tackle challenges in the political arena.

Chaired by BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the meeting was attended by central leaders, including BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Rangpur Divisional Organizing Secretary and Lalmonirhat District BNP President Asadul Habib Dulu, Assistant Organizing Secretary Abdul Khaleq, Shamim Kayser Linkon, MP, and other district leaders.

Attiqur Rahman Ruman, Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, stated that this is part of a continuous series of meetings.

Party Chairman Tarique Rahman is holding these exchange meetings to keep the organization strong at the grassroots, where he checks on organizational conditions and provides necessary directives.

Gaibandha-4 Member of Parliament and BNP leader Shamim Kayser Linkon said that it was primarily an organizational meeting focused on discussions regarding organizational matters, specifically how to keep the party organized and united.

In response to a question, he mentioned that grassroots BNP leaders have been instructed to discuss and finalize single candidates, ensuring selections are made by learning from past mistakes so that multiple party candidates do not run against each other.

Earlier, on the night of July 19, Tarique Rahman held an organizational meeting with leaders from Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, and Dinajpur districts at the Gulshan political office.

During this continuous series of meetings, special emphasis was placed on dissolving and reorganizing expired committees of the main party as well as its various organs and affiliated organizations to resolve internal conflicts and strengthen the party.

The focus includes rebuilding the organization, dissolving expired committees, and forming new committees at the district, upazila, union, and even ward levels to make the BNP and its affiliated bodies dynamic.

The BNP Chairman primarily aims to complete the party's restructuring activities ahead of the local government elections.

Earlier this month, on Saturday, July 4, the Prime Minister held a meeting at the Gulshan office with the Dhaka District and Metropolitan South BNP units, as well as the central volunteer wing.
