Awami League's Registration Suspended

The Election Commission (EC) has suspended the registration of the Awami League in light of the Ministry of Home Affairs' notification, according to Senior Secretary of the EC, Akhtar Ahmed.

He stated that the decision was made during a meeting held on Monday evening (May 12) at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka, in the chamber of Chief Election Commissioner A. M. M. Nasir Uddin.

Earlier, the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification prohibiting all activities of the Awami League and its all affiliated, associated, and fraternal organizations until the conclusion of the trial [mentioned in the previous context].

The notification, signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Ghani, was issued on Monday afternoon (May 12).
