NCP Leader Warns of 'Another 1/11 Plot' to Divide Bangladesh

Nahid Islam, convenor of the National Citizen's Party (NCP), has alleged that a conspiracy is underway to orchestrate "another 1/11 arrangement." He made the comment in a verified Facebook post on Friday night (May 23).

In his post, Nahid Islam stated, "Our goal is to free Bangladesh's politics from all forms of hegemony and conduct it independently and sovereignly. Bangladesh has been repeatedly divided. National unity has been destroyed, with the aim of keeping Bangladesh weak."

He further claimed, "Since the ban on Awami League, plots are again being drawn from Delhi to create instability and divide the country. There is a conspiracy to hinder democratic transformation and bring about another 1/11 arrangement."

The NCP convenor urged patriotic, pro-Bangladesh, and religious students and citizens to unite in favor of sovereignty, reform, and the July mass uprising against fascism and hegemony. He also called on patriotic army officers and soldiers to be prepared to defend sovereignty and Bangladesh.

Nahid Islam emphasized that Dr. Yunus must uphold the promises of reform, justice, and voting rights made to the people. He added, "He (Dr. Yunus) must resolve all political problems while remaining in office. 

The July declaration must be issued within the stipulated time. The election will be held within the declared timeframe. The July Charter of fundamental reforms will be drafted before the election."

The NCP convenor also stated that the trial for the July genocide must be visible and a roadmap for justice must be presented before the election.

He concluded by saying that elections for both the constituent assembly and the legislature must be held simultaneously for a new constitution.
