Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has left for Japan on a seven-day official visit.
He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on a flight at 3:00 AM on Saturday (May 2).
According to a statement from Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Rahman is accompanied by Saiful Alam Khan Milon MP, a member of the party's Central Executive Council, and Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman MP, the Ameer’s Foreign Affairs Advisor.
Party sources indicated that during the week-long visit, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to hold courtesy meetings and exchange views with several high-ranking Japanese officials and influential figures.
The delegation is expected to discuss various issues of mutual interest between the two nations.
This trip marks one of his most significant foreign tours as Leader of the Opposition following the last general election. Dr. Rahman is scheduled to return to Dhaka on May 9.
