4 Dead Including 3 Officials from Same Office

A head-on collision between a truck and a microbus occurred in Birganj, Dinajpur. The incident claimed the lives of the microbus driver and three officials from the Thakurgaon District Accounts and Finance Office.

Three others from the same office were injured in the crash, and their condition is reported to be critical. All of them were reportedly on their way to Rangpur for training.

The tragic accident took place on Monday (19 May) morning in the Bablu Farm area of Birganj, Dinajpur district. The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Thakurgaon 250-Bed General Hospital.

The deceased have been identified as:

  • Zulfikar Ali (46), Auditor, Thakurgaon Accounts and Finance Office
  • Imrul Hossain (45), Assistant Auditor
  • Delwar Hossain (50), Assistant Auditor
  • Manik Hossain, the driver of the vehicle

The injured are:

  • Mizanur Rahman Sarkar (50), son of Azgar Ali from Munshihat, Thakurgaon municipality
  • Al Mamun (40), son of Shariful Islam
  • Nahid Hossain (32), son of Mohammad Idris Ali from Dhanghara area, Birampur, Dinajpur

According to eyewitnesses and information from the fire service and police, seven employees from the Thakurgaon District Accounts and Finance Office were travelling to Rangpur for training in the microbus. The accident occurred at Bablu Farm in Birganj when a truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the microbus. Four people died on the spot, and the other three were critically injured and are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station, Sarwar Alam Khan, stated that the accident occurred in the Birganj area of Dinajpur, and the deceased were from Thakurgaon. Personnel from the highway police and fire service responded to the scene.

The OC further added that four people were killed in this tragic road accident. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Birganj Police Station. Police from Birganj, along with the highway police and fire service, rescued the victims and took them to the hospital.
