A 25-kilometer traffic jam and long queues of vehicles have formed on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge Highway.

The congestion, stretching from Korotia to the Jamuna Bridge, began around midnight on Wednesday (June 4) due to an excessive volume of vehicles and intermittent closures or slowdowns in toll collection at the bridge.

Additionally, traffic is experiencing slowdowns or stop-and-go movement over a 17-kilometer stretch from Gorai to Dhallya.

Hundreds of vehicles are stuck on the road, causing extreme hardship for home-bound travelers and drivers.

Md. Sharif, In-charge of Elenga Highway Police Station, stated that the traffic jam was caused by the high volume of vehicles and repeated halts in toll collection at the Jamuna Bridge.

He assured that police are working to resolve the congestion and that the situation is expected to normalize soon.
