At least six people sustained severe burn injuries after a fire erupted from an explosion at a dyeing factory in the Narayanganj BSCIC industrial area on Sunday morning.
The injured, who had been identified as factory workers -- Al Amin (30), Azizullah (32), Md Selim (35), Md Jalal Molla (40), Md Nazmul Huda (35) and Nur Mohammad (35), were admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.
They are currently undergoing treatment at the emergency department of the hospital, the facility’s Resident Surgeon Dr Shawon Bin Rahman told the media.
It was learnt that the fire broke out in the boiler room on the ground floor of the factory due to a gas pipeline leakage. The victims were working there. Within moments, the room caught fire.
A police team had been sent to the scene upon receiving the news.
