Janaza of Mohiuddin Chowdhury at Laldighi Maidan after Asr prayer

The namaz e janaza of Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League president and former Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury will be held at the Laldighi Maidan after Asr prayer on Friday (15 December).

Son of Mohiuddin Chowdhury and Awami League Central Organizing Secretary Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Noufel confirmed the information to the media.

ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury breathed his last at the Max Hospital in Chittagong while undergoing treatment on Friday early morning. He was 74.  He was suffering from kidney complications for long time. He was taken to the hospital yesterday as his physical condition deteriorated. He was given treatment at the Intensive Care Unit. The on-duty physicians declared him dead at around 3 am.

His eldest son Awami League Central Organizing Secretary Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Noufel said, the physicians tried their best. He was given life support at last. He breathed his last at around 3 am. Please pray for my father.

A large number of leaders and workers gathered in front of the hospital in the night after hearing the death news. Some of them burst into tears at that time.

Earlier in the night of 11 November Mohiuddin Chowdhury was admitted to Max Hospital in Chittagong due to severe heart and kidney complications. On the following day he was brought to Dhaka through helicopter and admitted to Square Hospital.

On November 16 Mohiuddin Chowdhury was taken to Singapore. He was undergone angiogram there and getting well. After returning from there he was again admitted at Square Hospital on November 26.
