Police have arrested a man named Jamal alias Henju Majhi (40) in connection with the case filed over the incident of gang rape at Subarnachar upazila in Noakhali district. With this arrest, 11 people were arrested so far over the incident.
The man was arrested from Daudkandi’s Gouripur area in Cumilla district on Friday morning. His name was not mentioned in the case. But during confessional statement of others under section 164 his name came in. Jamal was absconding after the incident. He resided at Maddham Bagga area in Subarnachar. Still three criminals were not arrested whose names were mentioned in the case.
The victim alleged that she went to cast her vote at a voting center in the morning of December 30 in the eleventh national parliament election.
At that time some youth of Awami League asked her to cast vote for their chosen candidate. As she did not agree to their proposal they threaten to see her.
On that night at around 12 am a gang of 10 to 12 members including Salauddin, Sohel, Bechu, Mosharraf went to her home and tied up her husband and children. Later the criminals brought the women outside home and raped her.
