The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced a significant reduction in the price of gold, lowering the rate by BDT 3,266 per bhori.
According to a notification issued on Monday, the price of 22-carat gold has been recalibrated to BDT 264,948 per bhori, effective immediately.
The price adjustment follows a downward trend in the cost of pure gold, locally referred to as tejabi gold.
Under the newly implemented rates, 21-carat gold is now priced at BDT 252,876 per bhori, while 18-carat gold stands at BDT 216,775.
Traditional method gold has been set at BDT 176,943 per bhori.
This follows a larger cut on March 4, when the association slashed prices by BDT 9,214.
The year 2026 has seen extreme volatility in the precious metals market, with gold prices being revised 38 times so far—consisting of 24 hikes and 14 reductions.
In tandem with gold, silver prices have also witnessed a decline.
Bajus reduced the price of 22-carat silver by BDT 175, bringing it to BDT 6,357 per bhori.
The rates for 21-carat and 18-carat silver have been updated to BDT 6,065 and BDT 5,190 respectively while traditional silver is now BDT 3,907.
Silver has seen 23 price revisions this year, reflecting the broader fluctuations in the local jewelry market.
