For the second time in 24 hours, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) reduced gold prices on Tuesday, slashing the rate for 22-karat gold by BDT 2,158 to reach BDT 219,808 per bhori, which includes VAT.
BAJUS announced in a morning notice that this latest price cut comes in response to a drop in pure gold prices within the local market, with the new rates taking effect at 10 am on Tuesday.
Under the revised pricing structure, a bhori, equivalent to 11.664 grams, of 21-karat gold is now priced at BDT 209,894, 18-karat gold stands at BDT 180,267 per bhori, and traditional gold is set at BDT 147,316 per bhori.
BAJUS noted that these rates will hold steady until further notice, though making charges will vary based on specific jewelry designs.
Because VAT is already factored into the listed sale prices of gold and silver ornaments, member jewelers are barred from adding separate VAT charges to customer bills.
Existing association guidelines regarding ornament exchanges and buybacks—excluding specified VAT, making charges, and stone costs—remain fully active.
This reduction follows an adjustment just a day prior on the morning of July 13, when BAJUS dropped rates by BDT 2,216 per bhori, placing 22-karat gold at BDT 221,966 including VAT.
Tuesday's revision marks the 91st adjustment to local gold prices in 2026, encompassing 44 increases, 46 decreases, and a single adjustment specifically for VAT.
Conversely, silver prices held steady during the revision. A bhori of 22-karat silver remains priced at BDT 4,607, while 21-karat, 18-karat, and traditional silver continue to sell at BDT 4,374, BDT 3,791, and BDT 2,858 per bhori, respectively.
Silver rates have experienced 56 total adjustments so far this year, split evenly with 28 increases and 28 decreases.
