The government has decided to shorten the duration of the National University's Honors program from four years to three years.
During an event held at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka on the occasion of International Education Day, M Aminul Islam, Special Assistant to the Education Advisor, announced this initiative.
He explained that the current four-year Honors program at the National University will be condensed into three years. In the additional year, students will receive extensive training in diploma and technical education. Graduates will be awarded both an Honors certificate and a Diploma certificate, which will be widely recognized.
According to the Special Assistant, this reform ensures that students can still pursue their dream of obtaining an Honors degree while also enhancing their job prospects. He described the initiative as an innovative and remarkable decision that will ease employment challenges for graduates.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Primary and Mass Education Advisor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar, UGC member Professor Saidur Rahman, Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division Kabirul Islam, Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md Masud Khan, and Professor Abdur Razzak, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Dhaka University.
The event was presided over by Siddiq Zobair, Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.
