A total of 128 students from Dhaka University have been temporarily expelled for their involvement in attacks on protesters during the July Uprising, which took place between July 15 and August 5.
The decision was made during a syndicate meeting on Monday (March 17). Following the meeting, Assistant Proctor Mohammad Mahbub Kaiser confirmed the matter to RTV News.
He stated that a probe committee, led by Syndicate Member Professor Dr Tajmeri S Islam, has been formed to investigate the allegations. A final decision regarding the students will be made based on the committee's report.
Earlier on Thursday, the investigation committee, headed by Associate Professor Kazi Mahfuzul Islam from the Law Department, submitted its report to Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan.
The report also identified several former students as being involved in the attacks. In light of the severity of their offenses, the committee has recommended the cancellation of their academic certificates.
